Your love gives my hearts wings to soar

Today, in order to switch gears from Christmas cards to Valentines cards, I cranked up some Michael Buble on the Itunes and printed out some of the fun new images from The Cutting Cafe and went to work.
Fun With Hearts and Valentine Mini Backgrounds were the two sets I used to make this card.
I absolutely {love} this heart with wings image and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.
I printed two of the same image and colored the heart only with copics and then paper pieced it to the other heart, which I had painted some gray shading onto and glittered up so it sparkled.
The sentiment was created by me using print shop. Now all I had left to do was add some ribbon. punched hearts and borders , stitching and a little bit o gloss on the hearts and I was done.

My design term has ended at The Cutting Cafe and I really wanted to go out with a bang. (Insert heavy sigh) I'm gonna miss being part of such an awesome team but it's time for a new team of wonderful crafters to step up. I consider myself very lucky to have been part of such a wonderful team and to have worked with Regina's amazing designs. She's been such a great friend and mentor and I'm gonna miss her most of all! The stocking were hung by the chimney with care.....

And what cute stockings they are!!! These are from one of the many new awesome Christmas sets from The Cutting Cafe, Christmas Banners! If you like the look of banners on cards then you're gonna be blown away with this set! This set features over 38 images, both colored and black and white.

I chose the black and white stocking images for this card and colored them with a red Copic. I chose not to put them on a string but instead layered them on a snowflake. I don't know if you can see the sparkle in the picture, but I added glossy accents and dazzling diamonds to the white areas. Here is a close up of them:

This card sparkles and shines with the addition of a silver border, sparkly silver ric rac, red glittered letters and red cording.

I am still loving the red, white and silver combination but I think I'm gonna give it a rest for now.

Frosty Fun At The Cutting Cafe

Oh my word! Regina from The Cutting Cafe has done it again! She has been busy creating some fabulous Christmas sets and I just couldn't wait to show you some of them. I'm featuring three of her new sets on this and they work together so well.

If you're anything like me, you can't resist snowmen. Would you look at this adorable snowman image she created for her new set, Fun With Frosty The Snowman. This set features 31 great images, all having to do with snowmen and snow. There's even a recipe for snowman soup!

The sentiment is also another one of her new sets and it's called Christmas In A Square and it's so cool! There are 20 images in this set (small and large of the same images). They are black and white images but I used my Print Shop to change the color of the font to fit the decor of my card (instructions for doing this are on The Cutting Cafe site).

Check out that cool background! It's another new image and it's called Snowflake Colored Backgrounds. It's a set of five different colored snowflake backgrounds in the following colors: pink, light aqua, clear, grey and mixed colors. I chose the pink background and printed it on some American Crafts designer paper. I really like the way it turned out!

I colored the snowman image with Copics and paper pieced his scarf to match the background. To give him a little sparkle I used Glossy Accents and Diamond Glitter on the ball and band of his hat. I also added Glossy Accents to his scarf, noseand heart. Isn't he adorable?!!!

To give this card a little more texture, I ran the background paper through the Cuttlebug using the Snowflake folder.

Those cute little snowflakes were cut using my Cricut and Graphically Speaking cart and glittering up portions of the snowflake.

I finished it off with some Kraft and Cranberry paper, ribbons and paper piercing. I have to say, I truly had fun creating with Frosty!

Fun Halloween Treat Holders

As I was getting ready to call it a night, I stopped by my stamp cave to straighten up a little. Well, when I went to put away the stuff on my desk, I came across one more of the Halloween Mini Colored Images I had printed while working on another project. I couldn't let it go in the incomplete file and decided to put it to use instead on this cute little door hanger.

It was super quick and easy. I started by scoring a 5 X 9 inch piece of designer paper at 1 and 5 inches. I then added a border top and bottom, burnished the folds and glued along the 1 inch glue tab. I ran both top and bottom through my corrugator and then added a bead of glue along the inside bottom.

Next, I punched holes on the sides and ran wire through them. I added a few curls to the top of the wire.

To finish it off, I added my image, some ribbon, a sentiment and some buttons. The only thing left to do after that was to add the candy. There you have it, a cute little candy holder that you can hang on a friends door!

I'm gonna head off to bed with sweet dreams of chocolate in my head.

Cooking With Cricut meets The Cutting Cafe for a Halloween good time

Imagine my excitement this week when I found out who was sponsoring our challenge over at Cooking With Cricut!!! It's The Cutting Cafe!!! Regina has very generously allowed us to work with her images and cutting files. I know you're used to seeing her images here on my blog because I've been on her design team for quite a while, but how cool is it for me that I get to combine both teams this week for the Cooking With Cricut challenge?!!! Pretty awesome I must say!!!

Since we're fast approaching Halloween, we're doing a Halloween themed challenge. Perfect!!!

To get things started I chose to work with Halloween All Around and the Halloween Banner set.

I started by printing the pumpkin image on green and orange card stock. I then cut out the orange pumpkin and paper pieced it onto the green. I did enhance the color of the pumpkin by coloring it with my Copics.

I also printed the banner on two different pieces of designer paper and paper pieced every other triangle.

For the Cricut in this challenge, I pulled out my Mini Monograms cart and cut out the scalloped circle and scalloped square. I layered it up with some polka dotted designer paper. I just love the pops of color on this card, don't you?!! It's spooktacular!!!

Gobble gobble....and give thanks.

Would you check out that Gobbler?!! He looks like he's fattened up and ready for the Thanksgiving table and just in time, Thanksgiving is only a month away. Where can you get this little guy, you ask?! Well, he's part of a new digital set from The Cutting Cafe. The set is called Thanksgiving Day and it features 26 wonderful images.

To make this card I printed the turkey image on white card stock and colored him with Copics and cut him out. I decided to add a few more tail feathers and those were cut using my Cricut and George cart. The oval panels were cut using the same Cricut cart I used for the tail feather. The marquee was cut using my Cricut and Storybook cart. All the layers are sponged and the turkey is popped up on dimentionals. Add some piercing, embossing, ribbon and a few punched accents and I called it done.

I've been a little MIA this last week but don't worry, there was no drama or sickness going on around here. Well maybe just a little drama. We were all caught up in the baseball playoffs. The Rangers made history this season and it was just too good to miss. They won against the New York Yankees and now they're on to the World Series playing the San Francisco Giants. GO RANGERS!!!!!

Happy Boo Day

I was getting ready to head off to beddy by when I remembered I needed to make a card for one of my coworkers. She wanted a birthday card with a Halloween theme for her grand daughter. I sure hope she likes it.

Time to pull out this awesome new set from The Cutting Cafe and put it to good use. It's so cute and the images are already colored, so that made it really easy. So nice when you're limited on time.

This set, Halloween Mini Colored, features 10 backgrounds and 18 mini images. I've used the stripes and stars backgrounds as well as the ghost, spider and witch on this card. To add the finishing touches, I added some buttons and glossy accents to the eyes on the ghost, spider and witches shoes and a little dotting and sentiment. I love how colorful it is.

It's The Boo Box For This Witch

This poor witch has seen better days! It seems she has crash landed and now she's become part of this cute little "BOO" box!

Where did I get those cute boots did you say?!!! Why they're one of the many fabulous Halloween sets from The Cutting Cafe!!

This set is called Witch Boot Shaped Card and includes cutting files written in PDF and WPC as well as 4 sentiments and a matching envelope. They're super fun and easy to work with. I just printed the boots and accessories out on printer paper and used them as a template.

I chose to decorate my box with them instead of folding them for a card. I was inpired by those ground decorations you see this time of year with the witch boots sticking up in the air as if she crash landed in the ground. I love the whimsy of it don't you?

As I said before, I started by cutting out the boots and adding the accessories that come with the file. The star and buckle were cut using silver card stock and the belt was cut using marigold morning. I added hand drawn stitching and spider webbed brads to the belt. Then to give it the shine of patent leather, I glossed the boots with glossy accents. This finished box measures 3 x 6 x 4 inches. I'm gonna fill it with candy and give it to a friend.

I totally missed World Card Making Day so I hope this makes up for it. I was at a speech tournament with my son all day yesterday! The good news is his group placed third in their category and he brought home a trophy. Woo Hoo! Go Hunter!!!! As if that wasn't good enough, their school took first place overall. It was and awesome day and the kids had a great time and performed their little hearts out!

Think Pink from The Cutting Cafe

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and there's a new set available from The Cutting Cafe just in time to honor our friends and loved ones who have been affected by this disease.

I don't think there is a person on this planet who hasn't been affected by breast cancer in one way or another.

My younger sister found out at the young age of 34 that she had it and had to deal with surgeries, chemo and radiation as well as many years of follow up tests and medications. I'm thankful to say that she is a survivor and the inspiration for this card. One thing she said repeatedly while going through the whole process of fighting cancer was that no matter how bad things got, she would not let cancer take her smile. That's why I chose such fun and sassy papers to go with this gorgeous image. For my sister! Anna you're awesome and your strength never ceases to amaze me!


I printed the image on white card stock and colored it with Copics and punched out with my oval nestabilities.
To add the finishing touches I used a prima, brad, glossy accents, ribbon and a punched flower with sentiment on it (also from The Cutting Cafe).

BOO! There be witches here!

It's getting close to that time of year when we load up on the treats and the kiddos get all dressed up in there cute costumes and go trick or treating. Just in time for all the Halloween fun, Regina at The Cutting Cafe has come out with another amazing set. Halloween Time contains 55 images and they are all super cute. I chose to work with the Boo and withches boots image for my card.

I printed them both on white card stock, printing the Boo image twice. I created a plaid pattern over one of them with my Copic markers. I then cut out the eyes and attached them over the first Boo and gave them a gloss with Glossy Accents.

I colored the boots with Copics and added some highlighting with a white Prismacolor pencil. I glossed them up as well and added the little dots (from the punched border) to them while the Glossy Accents was still wet.

For the black webbed background I ran my black cardstock through the Cuttlebug with a Fiskars embossing plate.

The hat and broom were added to tie the whole witch theme all together. They were made using various punches and nesties.

The fabulous layout is from Jen's (iheart2stamp) sketch challenge this week. It was just the perfect fit. I change mine a little and made the back panel smaller but that's because I wanted to include the black web.

Happy Fall from The Cutting Cafe

It's still hot here in Texas, but the nights are getting colder, signaling the coming of Fall! One of my favorite times of year other than Spring.

One of the things I love best about fall would have to be the changing of the leaves. I happen to be a big fan of earth tones and this is the best time of year to see them.

To welcome the change of season, Regina at The Cutting Cafe, has designed an awesome new set. It's called Welcome Fall and there are 46 images in this set! It is absolutely fabulous and I couldn't wait to create with it. So here for your viewing pleasure is a card I created with this set.
I printed the basket and leaves image on white card stock and colored the basket with Copics. I colored the leaves with my watercolor pen and reinkers.

The card stock I used is apricot, brown, burgundy and kraft. The DP is from My Minds Eye.

The image is popped up on dimentionals.

To put on the finishing touches I added some piercing, brads, borders, sponging and a row of felt leaves.

There you have it! A nice Fall colored card!

Welcome To The Neighborhood

I love this new digi set from The Cutting Cafe. It's called Welcome Home and it features 55 images. Well, the minute I saw it I just knew it would make the cutest "welcome to the neighborhood" package. Can you imagine how welcoming this would be if you were the new kid on the block?

I followed the same design from my Back To School set but just changed the images and designer paper.

I printed the images and colored them with Copics and just cut them out and added them to the DP. They're awesome enough without adding too much more. Just a nice flower with ribbon on the bag of cookies and a fun sleeve for the coffee and I was done. This was a really quick and easy project and I hope you like it.

I'm heading off to bed now. School it back in full swing and the early mornings are taking their toll on me. I need my beauty sleep you know. Don't want to scare the children when they get on the bus in the morning. LOL

First day of school survival kit for teachers

It's that time of year again! When parents and kids are getting geared for the kids to head back to school. I know I'm ready to get back in the swing of things.

We did our "dry runs" yesterday with the busses just to make sure we knew exactly where to pick up our little darlings and to work out any kinks there might be during that process. I'm only with the children for a the short ride from home to school and back again, but it's very tiring work. We are up really early every morning. I get to go home between routes and relax, but the teachers are with the students all day long.

That set my mind to thinking. What would be a good first day back to school gift that I could give to my kids' teachers that's inexpensive?! That's when I thought of this. It's super simple, low cost and I think it conveys the message that I appreciate what they do.

There's a cup of delicious Starbucks coffee and a bag of yummy breakfast sugar cookies. A nice little adrenaline rush for the mid morning fade.

To make the drink carrier, I used two 8 1/2 x 11 sheets of kraft. Scoring in on both of the long sides at 2 3/4 inches. Then turning it and scoring at 2 3/4 and at 5 1/2. I then added a 1 inch glue tab on both sides of those scored lines. See picture below.

Once I had all my lines scored and made all my cuts I glued it together at the glue tabs. After assembling both , I then glued them back to back to form a drink carrier. I punched the handle using a rounded tag punch, punching from one side and then the other, being sure to line up my already cut edges with the punch. I then set about adding my embellishments to decorate it.

I wanted the band around it to look like a chalk board so I added a two inch band of black card stock and attached a yellow corrugated scalloped border along the top and bottom. The writing on it was done with a white out pen. I added some apples along the top border to give it a little more punch of color.

I also made a cute little card to go along with it and added a sentiment to the heat protective sleeve.

All images and sentiments used in this project are from The Cutting Cafe's All About School digi stamp set. It's an awesome new set featuring 38 images!

Total cost of this project including coffee and cookies is about $ 6.00! Not too bad!

Rubber boots at The Cutting Cafe

Oh my goodness!!! Would you look at these cute rubber boots that Regina created for The Cutting Cafe! They're so adorable!!!! I couldn't wait to share them with you.

Don't they conjure up memories of little kids splashing around in the puddles after it rains?!!!

The best thing about them is their verstility. Just print them out on plain paper and color them or print them on designer paper and cut them out and add embellishments!

I decided it would be fun to make some polka dotted boots so I pulled out these sweet designer papers to use. After printing and cutting my boots out, I sponged the edges to give them a little more dimension and then added a row of flowers across the top for whimsy.

To finish the card off I added the ribbon, bow, flower (cricut & george cart) and sentiment.

Such a fun card perfect for cheering someone up! It sure makes me smile and I hope it makes you smile too!

Bee-cause your nice

Whew! What a busy weekend we had here. I decided on Friday that we should have a yard sale on Saturday. Am I outta my mind?!!!! It's the middle of July and about 1,000 degrees outside (slight exxageration there) but all in all it was a success. I was able to get rid of some stuff that had been sitting around gathering dust, and I made money in the process. I think I probably sweated off a few pounds too! (again, exxagerating)

The downside to spending all that time making money was that it cut into my stamp time. Poo!

I did manage to crank out a card for Jens SFYTT, though.

Her layouts are always fantastic and she makes the cutest cards. I just love doing her challenges.

When I saw the sketch I knew immediately I wanted to use the Cute Critters set from The Cutting Cafe.

I printed this image and colored it with Copics and paired it with these cute designer papers. The panels on top and bottom were made with my Cricut and Storybook cart. The finishing touches were ribbon and flowers with brads. Pretty simple but oh so cute!

I'm outta here for now. I still have a lot of challenges I hope to get done tonight. It's a vicious cycle when I fall behind, you know!

More tea time from The Cutting Cafe

I've been chomping at the bit to get some time to play around with this cute little teapot from The Cutting Cafe. I love shaped cards and Reginas Teapot Shaped Card set is just the cutest set ever!


I had another reason to use this set. It fit kmahany's DTGD challenge on SCS. I can't give you the details on the challenge. You'll have to click on the link to find that out what it all about.


I printed the teapot image on Apricot card stock and also on DP from Me & My Big Idea. I trimmed away the bottom of the teapot and lid and paper pieced the other pieces to the teapot. I colored the edges with a Copic marker to give it some dimension. I then added a sentiment from Tea Time and blinged it up a bit with some DP, lace and crystals. All it needed was a flower and a cool border to finish it off and it was done.

Not bad! A card to showcase this set and a challenge to boot. I like it when that happens!

Well, I'm off! I'm having a yard sale tomorrow and I want to be ready for it.

Best Bird Wishes

Hi folks! I've missed you guys! This working thing is really cutting into my stamp time, you know what I mean?! Just when there is so much to do too! I mean, there's new stuff at The Cutting Cafe that you definitely want to see, and then there's the Dare To Get Dirty challenges going on over on SCS as well as all the blog challenges I like to do. What's a girl to do?!!!

Combine, combine, combine. That's what I do!

For today's card I chose to do Julie Warners Just Faux You challenge and use one of the new images from Just Jot It Down that was just released at The Cutting Cafe.

I started by creating my own background with my birds and swirls embossing folder. I inked it up with Night Of Navy and ran it through the cuttlebug, I then colored the white images using reinkers and a watercolor brush. Just to give it an extra punch, I spritzed it with some Navy Glimmer Mist.

I printed off the notebook image from Jot It Down, stamped a sentiment on it and sponged the edges. Add some punched flowers and a cute bird image from Whimsical Birds and I called it done. All in all I think it turned out pretty nice.

You should check out some of the other cards in the gallery. There are some really talented ladies in the SCS world.

I'm a little teapot.....

A teapot with yummy strawberries on it! This is another one of the images in the Tea Time set from The Cutting Cafe. I can't decide if this one is my favorite or the flower one I used the other day. They're both awesome!

The strawberries were colored using my Copics. The shaded areas were colored with Sahara Sand reinker and a watercolor brush.


I started this card last night when I saw the challenge on SCS to double emboss. The double embossing on this card was done with my Cuttlebug and Stylized Flowers and Allegro folders.


I inked the Stylized Flower folder with real red ink and ran it through the Cuttlebug and then ran it through once again with the Allegro folder.


The layout is from this weeks sketch challenge on Taylored Expressions.

I'm not too sure about the color combo! The cards I've been making lately have been loaded with color and this one seems a little plain compared to them.

It's tea time

Check out this cool new release from The Cutting Cafe! Don't you just love teapots? I know I do and this one is so cute! I couldn't wait to play around with it.

I just printed the image, cut it out using my oval nestie and colored it with my Copics.

I paired it with this yummy paper from Me And My Big Idea.

That little doilie sitting under the tea pot was made with a Scallop Punch and Circle Embossing Folder and Piercer.

I continued the scallop pattern in the border to give it symmetry.

I knew right away that the final touch would be this cute little flower made with my Cricut and George cart. It looked almost identical to the flower on the pot so I had to use it. Whaddya think?
