Sweet Ava Christmas

Happy Monday morning to you all!  I had a little bit of time on my hands this morning and so I thought to myself, should I spend my extra time playing around on facebook or should I make a card?!!   Sorry facebook!  I chose to make a card and I had the perfect inspiration for it.  I used to do the challenges on Split Coast Stampers all the time! In fact, that's where I grew as a stamper and learned so many of the techniques  I use in my card making today!  So I headed on over this morning to see what the technique challenge was all about.  Oh my word!  Talk about a great challenge!  The challenge is to color your image using a lead pencil.  What an amazing look it gives to an image!  I'm so glad I tried it!  Here's my card using Ava Christmas Sitter from Bugaboo Stamps.

Using the instructions found here, I printed the image on white card stock but softened it by using my quick print mode on my printer.  All I had to do was color it in using a #2 pencil coloring darker in shaded areas and lighter in areas where there would be more light.  The DP is Chill Out Winter from ki memories and Best Occasions Mixed Media Pack.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkado not sure of the name of the stamp.

Vintage Christmas Stampin All Year Long

Whew!  We made it to Friday!  It's getting close to the end of the school year and I don't know about you, but it sure has been busy around here.  We have our sons eighth grade graduation later today and then in less than two weeks our daughter graduates from High School, plus we are getting geared up for a move.  Busy times for sure!!! 

Since I've been so busy, I kept this weeks Christmas Stampin All Year Long challenge pretty simple.  The challenge this week is "Vintage"!  I love the look of vintage cards but I have to say I'm a little vintage challenged.  I'm serious!  Vintage challenged here for sure! 

To get started on my card I pulled out one of my favorite snowman images from Inkadinkado.  I stamped him on kraft and colored just his scarf, hat and nose using copic markers.  The designer papers I chose to use are from kelly panacci.  To finish it off and give it that vintage feel, I added some sponging and a few rows of lace.

Sunny Birthday Flowers

My darling daughter needed a birthday card for her best friend and of course, she didn't wnat any of the many cards that I have in my stash, so I made this one. I've had this color combo in my head for about a week now so when I had no problem deciding on that. I picked up a mat pack earlier in the week and it had these wonderful papers in it. Perfect for making sunny flowers.

I inked up the stems only on my Garden Poems stamp (Penny Black) with Basic Brown ink and stamped them on the gingham paper. The leaves were colored with Copics.

The sentiment is from Inkadinkado's Birthday Cupcakes set and I stamped it in Basic Brown.

This was a pretty simple card and I think she's gonna like it.

Late night stamping!

It's late and I'm up and I felt like stamping so I browsed over to SCS to check out the challenges they had posted. Since it was late, I decided to combine the Limited Supply Challenge with the Inspiration Challenge and this is the card I came up with. I decided to make it a Valentine card since I hadn't really made any yet. I ditched the traditional V-Day colors and opted for these rich, earthy tones and I have to say, I like it!

The images are from Inkadinkado's Hearts & Love and Flower Garden sets. I inked my FG stamp with Really Rust Ink and then colored around the image with my Copic and Really Rust markers. I used Glossy Accents on the center image. I added the love birds to give it a little more dimention and finished it off with a cut out heart from my Cricut and Storybook Cart.

Well, like I said.......it's very late and my fingers keep hitting the wrong keys so I'm gonna say good night for now. I'm not very good at sleep typing! LOL

My first card in the New Year, Classic meets Country..

Hello, hello, hello! I've missed you all! It's a brand spankin New Year and one of my goals this year is to get back into stamping and blogging about it. I'm gonna take it slow and easy so my posts will probably be weekly rather than daily, but I'm gonna give it my best shot.

Here to kick off the new year is a card I made with my Flower Garden set from Inkadinkado. I love these cute little images.

The classic part of this card would be the elegent embossed stamping and the textured background. The country part of this card would have to be the black and white checked ribbon. I think they look pretty good together, what do you think? I couldn't resist adding some scallops and that big black button to finish it off. I also added a cuttlebugged sentiment at the bottom using my With Love Border folder. I heat embossed it to make it pop a little more.

Sketch # 90

Good morning and welcome to this week's Sketches card and challenge. We are continuing with our "Blast From The Past" and what a fabulous sketch it is. Don't you just love Tamara's sketches?

My card:

I used another cupcake image from The Cutting Cafe and colored it with my Copics, cut it out and popped it up on dimentionals. I added a little ribbon and prima to the cupcake just for fun. The color inspiration came from a piece of DP that I didn't end up using. I liked the color combo, but the design was just too busy for what I wanted to achieve. It was a good decision and I really like the way this turned out, don't you?

I've already been over to the Sketches blog and checked out what the design team did and I have to say, I like it. Why don't you stop in and check it out. The competition is tough this year and I have my faves. So far they're still in and I'm pretty sure if they were to get the least votes for an off week, the judges would save them. Do you wanna know who my faves are? I thought so. I love Danny cause he's just so darn cute and talented to boot, Chris cause he's just too sexy and Adam cause he's an amazing artist. I like the others too but those are my top three.

I need to wrap this up and get going. I have to get back to work. Gotta love those split shifts!

Another cupcake card

I hope you're not getting tired of them. I headed off to stamp land last night with a mission in mind. To finally do one of Taylors cupcake challenges and while you don't have to use cupcake images, if you've got em, why not use em, right?

Here is my fun and bright cupcake card. I love these colors together.

Still playing with the cupcake images from The Cutting Cafe. (I just love them, they're so fabulous.)

I added one small detail, a candle from Tags & More. I just used my craft knife and cut along one of the lines and inserted it.

Keeping with my usual, I used the swirl & swiss dot folders for texture.

I've been challenging myself to use up some of my stash of hoarded papers. This one is from Provocraft and is probably retired I've hoarded it so long. The star border was made using a Fiskars star punch and threading water punch .

I was wondering something? Do you like it better when I add the recipe at the end of the post? If so, let me know and I'll bring it back. I value your opinion!

Happiness is Friday and a Cupcake Card

It's Friday, it's Friday!!!! Are you as happy as I am to be saying those words? I just love Fridays. I get to stay up late and stamp cause I can sleep in tomorrow.

I am getting ready to head into my favorite place in the world (my stamp room. It's a good thing I didn't write the script for The Wizard Of Oz or the line would have been, "there's no place like my stamp room".)

Before I head into my happy place, I wanted to post the card I did for this week's sketch challenge on SCS.

I used another one of those yummy cupcake digital images from The Cutting Cafe. I colored it with my Copics and paired it with some fun bright colored DP that I've been hoarding for a while. Throw in some primas, buttons, cuttlebugging and cool borders and this is the end result. Very bright and cheery!!!

I'm off to my happy place now. Hope you get to do the same! Click your heals together and repeat after me. "There's no place like my stamp room, there's no place like my stamp room!" TTFN

I just saved a bunch of money by switching to Geico

Interesting title post don't you think? Have I ever told y'all my favorite color is green? I love any and all shades of green. Why am I telling you this, you may ask? Because today's card is almost all green. The image I used just called for it.

I was playing around with my Humorous Birthday set from Inkadinkado while doing Jen's Sketch For You To Try and came up with this card:

Isn't that lizard cute? Reminds me of the Geico lizard.

This card was super simple. I just stamped the image and colored it with my Copics.

This is the only card I have for posting today. I spent the better part of the morning catching up on the last three week's of Grey's Anatomy (they are so good). I haven't been watching it because I thought they were showing reruns. I'm such a goof.

I still have this week's episode to watch, so I'm gonna run for now! Don't tell me what happens!

Last night I was cleaning up my stamp room and got a little distracted because these papers were still sitting right there on my desk and they were screaming "play with me". What was I to do? I tried ignoring them but just like one of my kids, they only got louder. *Hee hee*

I caved in (just like I do with my kids, I'm such a pushover) and made this cute little weaved basket.

and filled it with Peppermint Patty flowers (no, not the one on Charlie Brown, the candies).

Here is a closeup of the flowers for you. The candy is sandwiched between two flowers and attached to skewers. Cute huh? Here is a picture of the happy couple together.

Texture, texture and more texture

Hi and welcome to Friday and a card with lots of texture. I wanted to make a mostly white card for Valentines Day and this is what I came up with. I used four different embossing folders on this. Swirls, Hearts, Swiss Dots and Argyle. Oh and I had one of those Eureka moments when I was getting ready to add the primas along the bottom. I had a small strip of red card stock laying on my desk and thought to myself. Hmmm! If I punch a border with my Threading Water Punch, I can add a Prima to every other circle and make a pretty cool border even more interesting. What do you think? Do you like the way it looks?

The big embossed flower and the hearts were made with the Cricut and George Cart. I'm still giving my Hearts & Love Stamps a run for their money. They just magically appear every time I get ready to stamp.

Sketch #81

Good morning and welcome to this week's Sketches card. Tamara gave us another awesome layout to work with and since I was working on Valentines cards I just kept to that theme. I am totally in love with my Hearts & Love stamp set and just can't seem to put it down.



I inked the heart with red pigment and heat embossed with clear ep. The birds were inked with black pigment ink and heat embossed with black ep.

Another thing I just can't seem to put down is my All Occasions Mixed Media Pack. It just screams romance to me. I love the gray and black with just a *pop* of red.

It's been a while since I've torn paper but that was my interpretation of the layout and I really like the way it looks. Here is the layout for you to try.

When I think of love, I think of my relationship with my hubby and hearts. That's why I chose to simply stamp the words "you & me" inside one of the hearts from the Decorative Hearts Folder. I also think of music. You know it just sets the mood *wink*. That's why I chose to emboss part of the background with the Allegro Folder.

I kept the colors neutral with just a dash of color from the flowers. I really *love* the way this turned out, don't you?

CPS 100 Card Contest

Good morning my crafting friends. Have you been over to CPS lately. They are celebrating their 100th sketch with a contest. You still have time to enter but time is running out. This is my entry for the challenge.

I started by stamping my image from the Tim Holtz Collection in Choco Chip and then again in White Pigment and heat embossing with White EP. I then stamped the Saldigo Sprig and sentiment in Black Pigment Ink and heat embossing with Black EP. Layering one image over the other. I also stamped, heat embossed and cut out the birds from Hearts & Love. I love these colors with the Kraft card stock.

Usually I watch just for the commercials (I don't really get into football unless it's my son playing) but since my Cards are in it this year I gotta watch a root for them. Sorry if you are a Steelers fan. I love them too but I grew up in Arizona and have hoped year after year that the Cards game would improve. I'm ecstatic that they made it so far this year. GO CARDS!!!!!!

Limited Valentine

I've been popping in and out of SCS today when I wasn't cleaning my stamp room, and came across the limited supply challenge from Friday. The challenge was to make a card using black as your card base. Well, while cleaning the stamp room, I was putting away my Thickers (which just so happen to be black)and was inspired to make this card.

I am in love with this stamp set. (No pun intended) The stamp set is Hearts & Love (Inkadinkado). I stamped the sentiment using black pigment ink on vanilla and heat embossed it with black ep. The hearts were stamped with red pigment on black cs and then heat embossed with heat & stick powder and glitter. The birds are also embossed using black pigment and black ep.

Time to get back to cleaning the stamp room. I love how cleaning spurs my creativity. I wasn't really in the mood to stamp today until I started cleaning.

TECC #52 A Year Of Cupcakes

Taylor is celebrating the one year anniversary of the Taylored Expressions Cupcake Challenge! Each of the ladies on the Weekly Cupcake Crew has designed their own sketch for the celebration. I thought it was only fitting that I use one of my Changito's for this challenge since it was a Changito image that won me the honor of being a Featured Cupcake Stamper in the first place. I also wanted to do something unique and different. The idea to do the whole card in black & white with the exception of the cupcake came to me on Sunday. Isn't it cute? I printed the sentiment on the background using my computer and Bart font.

Look at that cherry! I used my embossing pen and clear ep to get the cherry to shine. Isn't that yummy?

I've been thinking about my mom a lot lately so it was easy to decide what my focus was gonna be, butterflies. I inked up the butterfly from Expressions (Inkadinkado) with Cranberry and stamped it on the white textured paper. I then punched a swirl in the wings and around the edges of the butterflies. I went back overthe punch areas and wings with a Copic marker to add a little more depth. The sentiment and corner flourish were stamped in white pigment ink and heat embossed with white ep. I added some adhesive pearls (Elements) just to give a little something extra. Mom would have loved this one for sure.

Sleep challenged and a couple challenge cards

Good morning to you all! It's Sunday, about 4:45 AM and I can't sleep again. I should be tired, but I'm not, so what's a girl to do. Get up and try to wear herself out stamping I guess. LOL!

I guess sleeplessness can have it's perks.

Here are a couple of the cards I made while trying to wear myself out.

This one is for Julee's Mojo Monday challenge and uses the Expressions stamp set (Inkadinkado)that I got for Christmas but has just now seen ink.

Papers: Caramel and Cranberry (SU),and Retro Mat Pack (DCWV). Inks: Basic Brown and Caramel. Extra: Punches(Scallop Circle, Scallop Border, Butterfly, Fern),Cuttlebug & Circles and Flowers Folder, Ribbon, Buttons, Stickles, Piercing Tool, Sponge.

After playing around with all the rich earthy tones, I decided I wanted to make something fun and bright.

This one is for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge. What? There's no cupcakes on this one?

I know, I started with full intentions of doing a cupcake image with these cute little bees standing on top. Try as I may, I just couldn't make it look right, so I ditched the cupcake and just stuck with the bees( I had spent a good bit of time cutting those suckers out, of course I wasn't going to ditch them). LOL! Anyway, Taylor's guidelines say you don't have to use cupcakes so it still fits the challenge. Yeah!!!!!

Love is in the air.

TGIF! Whew! Am I ever glad to say that. I didn't think it was ever gonna get here. Hubby has been working nights all this week and that means Becky doesn't sleep well. That combined with the extra hours at work made for a very tired me. As you can see, I survived it and even made good use of my sleepless state.

I have a couple V-day cards to show you today. I've been playing around a little more with my Hearts& Love set from Inkadinkado. I sure do love this set and it's quickly becoming my favorite V-day set. That is until the next one comes along, but I'm sure you all know how that goes. LOL This first one I kept pretty simple and used rich papers from my coordinating print mat pack (DCWV). The hearts were stamped in Cranberry and the sentiment in Choco Chip.

For the second card I chose to go with non-traditional V-day colors. Mainly because I chose the backgroound paper first. It's also from my coordinating print mat pack. I used my Just My Type border EF's to give the background some texture. The hearts were heat embossed by stamping the image first in Versamark and then in Choco Chip on white card stock, and then embossing with UTEE and coloring the heart with a Copic marker. Extras are ribbon, border (MS punch), scallop circles and sponging. Yummo!

Hearts and Love

Don't you just love love? I know I do. Apparently so does most of the world because they dedicated a whole day to it. You know what I'm talking about. Valentines day! Next to Christmas, this is my favorite holiday to make cards for. This year my oldest daughter was so sweet and bought me the Hearts & Love stamps from Inkadinkado for Christmas. Hearts, hearts and more hearts. Can you say fun? Woo hoo!!!! I decided it was time to get it all inky and this is the end result.

I stamped the heart in Red Pigment Ink on white cs and then heat embossed it with clear EP. I colored in the flowers using my black marker (SU). The sentiment is from SU's All About U set and is also stamped in Red Pigment Ink and then sprinkled with heat& stick powder, heated and then sprinkled with red glitter and heated again. The papers are from my All Occasions Mixed Media Pack (Walmart). The Vellum is dry embossed using my Paisley EF and Cuttlebug. The red dots around the scallops and chipboard are done with Red Stickles. Oh and I almost forgot. Ribbon. That is ribbon you see top and bottom of the panel. I just love the contrast of colors here, don't you?

The layout is from this week's design layout on Card Positioning Systems. One of my goals for the new year is to participate in the blog challenges I love and CPS is just one of many.

Now that I've gotten this posted, I really need to get some work done around here. My desk looks as if a big paper & stamp eating monster threw up all over it. Seriously, I have about a 12 by 12 space that is not covered with stuff. I know I'm not the only one who does this cause I've seen some of the pictorial confessions on your blogs. I'm just not courageous enough to show pictures. LOL
