I Need A Hero

Don't we all?!!! Today's card was made with just that thought in mind. I think of the brave men and women of the Armed Forces when I think of hero. Being a former military wife myself, I know the sacrifice that they and their families make every day to protect our freedom and this is my shout out to them.
This is the free image I earned by participating in the weekly challenges at Hambo Hoedown.  You can find the details here.  This week's challenge is a layout challenge.

I colored the image using Copic markers and then cut it out and placed it on the oval panel I cut using my Nestabilities.

For the blue background I embossed it using a Fiskars embossing plate and my cuttlebug.  I then inked it up with Versamark and dusted on some gold Pearl Ex powder.

To make the stars I used my Cricut and George cart and then added glossy accents  I also added glossy accents to the medal.  Thats pretty much it.

Until next time, thanks for stopping by and have a great day!  TTFN

Ahoy Matey

It's time for another Hambo Hoedown card and as usual, I am just getting this in under the wire.  You see I have the really bad habit of not reading things through.  Let me explain.

I recieved this weeks fun and fabulous free image for doing last weeks challenge and thought I read that the challenge was to make a nautical themed card.  Seems easy enough so yesterday I started working on what I thought was a great challenge card, the only problem is I made it with reds, blues and some yellow.  When I checked back to make sure I was gonna make the deadline there it was in clear writing for me to see  "Create a beach scene card using blues, browns and kraft".  Hmmmmm!  The card I had originally made wasn't gonna work.  Silly me!

So that brings me to today and this card that I made last minute.  I'm not real thrilled with it but it's a beach scene and it has blues and browns in it.  What I am thrilled about is is the fun image that I got for participating and knowing that by getting this done and posted that I will have earned another great image.

To create the beach scene I cartooned a beach image using my photo editing software and printed it on caramel paper.  I then corrugated another piece of caramel paper and glued the beach scene to it.  Before the glue could get good and dry I tore away some of the corners to expose the corrugated paper underneath.  To color my image I used a watercolor brush and reinkers in navy and brown.

That's it in a nutshell.  I'm gonna get this all linked up and put it behind me and try to remember next time to slow down and read things through thoroughly!

Until next time, thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day!!!!  TTFN

Hambo Hoedown challenge #2

Whew! It's been one whirlwind of a week and I just barely finished this card. Nothing like working against the clock! This is for the challenge on Hambo Hoedown. If you participate week after week, you get a new free image mailed to you. Isn't this little guy the cutest.  I love all the eyes!
I colored this little cutie with copic markers Y21, R35, R59, YG63, G99
The papers are Recollections black, red, GP white and AC Celebration dp.
The banner is from Shannon's Sentiments Shout Out set.
Extras: ribbon, buttons, cording

I pulled this card together in ten minutes and that included coloring the image.

I'm off to bed now!  Y'all have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by!  Until next time.  TTFN

Are you ready for some football?

Hambo stamps is! They started a new weekly challenge and if you participate week after week, you'll get free images. What a sweet deal that is. I'm up for the challenge, how about you?

This is their first free image. Isn't she cute. I decked her out in both Steeler and Packers colors but you can tell from the colors on the card who I'm rooting for. Since my Cowboys didn't make the cut this year I have to root for somebody and that just happens to be the Steelers. Please don't hate me if you're a Packers fan!

I colored both images using copic markers and prismacolor pencils. This is a super simple layout so the rest was easy.

I made the banner myself by cutting 1/2 x 2 inch strips of black card stock and folding them and using a square punch to make the dove tail. The sentiment was made using Print Shop. I cut slits by her hands to fun embroidery floss through to make it look like they are holding the bottom banner.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by. TTFN
