Christmas In July Day Six

Melekalikimaka is the thing to say on this bright Catch The Bug Christmas In July challenge day!

Okay so I really over did it on the song this time, just couldn't help myself.  You'll understand when you see the challenge for today.

It's a photo challenge and Bugaboo Stamps has this awesome set of Tropical Santas that are perfect for it.

I chose to feature Tropical Santa-Suntan but he got a little sunburned lying around in the hot sand and sun.  He really should have put on his sunblock.  I mean, seriously, he spends most of his time covered from head to toe in fur, he had to know he would get a nasty burn.  Lol

The bold colors were inspired by the colors of the flip flops, the embossed background was inspired by the sand.  I sponged on clouds to mimic the clouds in the photo.  I used a combination of PSE 12 and Copics to color the image. I think this is my favorite from the week.  It's just so much fun!

My sister would love this card.  She spent many years living in Hawaii and every year she would wish me a Melekalikimaka!

It's Time For An Oldie But Goodie

Good morning and welcome to today's post.  

I recently saw a tutorial on Splitcoaststampers for partial die cutting, so I thought I would give it a try.  I guess you could say this is similar to s swing gate card, but this doesn't have that extra fold and cut.  

For my card I'm featuring this sweet little  Bugaboo Stamps image. Cute Bee Flower.  I've also included three photos so you can see what it looks like in all of it's stages.

i colored the image using Copic markers and then fussy cut the image.  The sentiments were created using PSE 12.

That's all I have today.  I've got a busy day ahead of me.  My oldest daughter is ready to try it on her own again so we are moving to a smaller apartment.  What fun, right:?!

Little Ava Mermaid

Good morning!  It's time for an Oldie But Goodie at Catch The Bug and what could be better than this cute little Ava Mermaid image from Bugaboo Stamps.

I colored her in my favorite color using water color pencils and a water color brush.  I then added some glitter cause everybody knows, mermaids are sparkly.  LOL

Playing on the flower in here hair, I added a row of punched flowers along the side.  As for sentiment, I wasn't sure if I wanted to make a birthday card of all occasion, so I left it off for now.

Make A Splash Baby

Vacation time is over and it's time to get back to Bugaboo business as usual.  It's also almost time to go back to shcool so for today's Oldie But Goodie,  I thought I'd play around with Beach Baby 2 and make a card perfect for a little girl on her first day of school.  The inside says-Make A Splash, Baby!  

Isn't she adorable in that red and white polka dotted bathing suit.  I colored the image using Copics and then added the dots with my white gel pen.

and it's time for an Oldie But Goodie from Bugaboo Stamps.  I'm featuring the oh so cute  Cupcake Ava image and she's perfect for this colorful Valentine card.  Now, she did come with a candle and some skulls, but I thought for a V-Day card, I would leave those out.  It was super easy, all I had to do was fussy cut the image.

Snowy Holiday Wishes

It's time for an Oldie But Goodie at Catch The Bug and I thought a nice snowy image would get me thinking of cold weather and maybe get me in the Christmas spirit.  We've been experiencing temps in the 80's here in Texas.  Yes, you read that right!  It's December for goodness sake!!!  Now, I am not a fan of freezing temps, and I hope when they finally get here they don't stay long, but it would be nice if it cooled down enough to light a fire in the fireplace and break out the hot cocoa.  I'm hoping this little card featuring Bugaboo Stamps Winter Birds-Scarf will get me in the Christmas mood and possibly bring on some wintry weather.

I colored the image using a combination of copics and prismacolor pencils.  I created the die cut snowflake in the background with my cricut and graphically speaking cart.  I then embossed it using my cuttlebug and sledding folder.  The papers are from recollections Basics paper pack.  I gave the snowy branch some sparkle with glossy accents and glitter.

Trick Or Treat

It's time for another Oldie But Goodie from Bugaboo Stamps and I thought it would be fun to play around with one of the many fabulous Halloween images.  It's Goofy Ghost Moon and he's the cutest ghost ever!!!

This was a pretty fast and simple card. I colored the ghost using my C3 copic marker, just coloring around the edges and blending with my colorless blender.  I wanted him to sparkle so he's covered with glossy accents and Martha Stewart fine glitter.

Feeling A Little Green?

Have I got the perfect  cure?!!  It's Oldie But Goodie day at Catch The Bug and I made this get well card featuring Bugaboo Stamps Mini Sets-Monster Blocks.

I wanted him to appear to be popping out of the frame so I did three layers (the full image, the image without the frame and then the eyes)  

Here's an extreme close-up so you can see all the layers.

The image was printed on watercolor paper and colored using watercolor pencils (Stampin Up) and an aqua painter.  I created the sentiment using Word and Curlz font.  I also made the glittered dots, using a hole punch and then covering it with glossy accents and glitter. The papers are all from my scrap pile with the exception of the designer paper.  That came from my fellow DT member in a paper swap.  A little glossy accents for his eyes and teeth added the finishing touch.

Love Bug Oldie But Goodie

Good morning!  Sorry I've been MIA lately!  Trust me, I would love nothing better than to be making cards but the kids are getting ready to go back to school. Since I'll be driving a bus this year, I've been pretty busy with training and meetings this week.  I did take some time out of my busy schedule to make a card for this weeks Oldie But Goodie at Catch The Bug.  I chose Bugaboo Stamps Lily Ladybug Logs for my image.

I colored the image using prismacolor pencils and copic markers.  I'm unsure of the manufacturer of the designer paper since I got it in a swap.  The die cuts I used were lacey circles, standard circles & label one.  I also used my cricut and storybook cart,

Surf's Up

  It's a bright shiny day and I wish I were sitting at the beach, sipping a nice cool drink, squishing the sand between my toes.  Alas, I'm not so I'll just have to console myself by making a fun beachy card.  It's Oldie But Goodie day at Catch The Bug and I chose the "oh so cool" Poppi Penguin Surf image from Bugaboo Stamps for my card.

I colored the image using copic markers,  The fun papers are Trinity Paper Arts Surf  & Swim Lei and Echo Park Hello Summer Wide Stripes.  I made the flip flops using card stock and bakers twine.  The sentiment is from Studio G.  A little glossy accents on the glasses and I was done.

You Light Up My Life

Good morning my  blogging, card making friends!  It's Thursday and that means it's time for an Oldie But Goodie from Bugaboo Stamps.

I just couldn't resist the cuteness of this little fireman.  He's AKVtoo's Fireman-Fire Truck and he's here to save the day when you light those candles on that birthday cake this year!

I printed the image on white card stock and colored it using Copic markers.  The glass portion of the firetruck looks shiny with the help of glossy accents.  I colored and cut just the body of the fire truck on another image and popped it up using dimentionals.  The sentiment was created using Print Shop and highlighted with Copic markers.  The inside sentiment says "Don't worry!  We've got you covered".

Best Fishes

It's Oldie But Goodie day at Catch The Bug!  The day when we showcase images that you may or may not have seen before.  I love any and all of the Ava images from Bugaboo Stamps, so this was an easy decision!   What's cuter than Ava as a mermaid?!!!  Not much and just to give her a little whimsy, I colored her hair blue!

I printed the image on water color paper and colored it using my Stampin Up watercolor pencils.  To punch it up a little more, I added glitter to her flower, bikini top, flipper and the fish!  This card is so cute and sparkly!  All it needed was a few punched flowers and some fun dotted DP and I was done.  Super easy!

Something to crow about

The weather here is turning colder and the leaves are changing color haralding that  Fall is finally here!  This cute little crow from Bugaboo Stamps wants to wish you all a Happy Fall!  He's an Oldie But A Goodie!

I printed the image on Fabriano water color paper and colored him using watercolor pencils.  Add some plaid designer paper, card stock in fun fall colors and some felt fall leaves and this is what you get.

Cancer Stinks-Oldie But Goodie-Bugaboo Stamps

I have a story to tell you!  It's a story about a young woman in her early thirties who discovered she had a lump in her breast.  She had a mammogram which led to a biopsy which led to a diagnosis of cancer.  That was a very scary time in her life and in the lives of her family.  That young woman is my sister!  A woman who as a child completely freaked out at the sight of a needle coming toward her.  The school nurse would call me out of my class room to come and calm her down when they gave her shots at school.  This beautiful young woman had to endure surgeries, chemo therapy, radiation and countless needles all without her sissy to calm her down.  She lived in Hawaii and I lived in Oregon and we both had small children.   It was a hard time for her but she fought just as hard and kicked cancers butt!  It's been twelve years and she's a survivor!  She's my hero!!!

It's in honor of my sister and Breast Cancer Awareness month that I bring you this weeks Oldie But Goodie from Bugaboo Stamps.  Her motto while she was going through this time in her life was that cancer could not take her smile.  I hope this puts a smile on her face!

Oldie But Goodie-Bugaboo Stamps

I love penguins and I've had this little guy colored and in my stash for a while now just waiting to go on a card.  Since it's Oldie But Goodie day at Catch The Bug it was the perfect time to bring him out and put him to use!  He's such a cutie, I'm sure he'll melt you heart!  He'e Penguin Roses from Bugaboo Stamps!

I printed him on white card stock and colored him using copic markers.  I placed him on an embossed card base from DCWV.  For the heart and scalloped mat I pulled out my cricut and  george & mini monogram carts respectively.  The sentiment  is from Stampin Ups Love Ya (retired) set.

Oldie But Goodie-Catch The Bug

I love Oldie But Goodie day at Catch The Bug.  I get to show you a great Bugaboo Stamps  image that has been around for a while and is  still as great as the day it was released.  Since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to play around with one of the many cute images in the Bobble Head Halloween set.  I also wanted to play around with the tutorial for crayon rubbed embossing  that can be found here on Split Coast Stampers.

I printed the image on white card stock and colored it using watercolor pencils.  It's hard to see but I did a spiderweb design on the background paper using rubbed embossing.

Heard You Caught A Bug

This weeks Oldie But Goody card is all about making someone feel better whey they're sick. I know it's hard to think about during all this warm weather but soon enough we'll be heading into cold and flu season  again and I want to be ready with cards to send and give out. 

Bugaboo Stamps Bug Jar images are perfect for get well cards.  There are all these cute bugs captured in jars and they are great  paired  with a "caught a bug" sentiment and they are so darn cute, they're sure to put a smile on a persons face.

Here's my card using one of them:

Bug Jar Ladybug

I printed him on white card stock and colored him using watercolor pencils and a water color brush.  I also cut and colored the lid of another image an fussy cut it and popped it up using dimentionals.  To give the image a real glass like look I added glossy accents over the image.  The sentiment banner is from Shannon's Sentiments and I printed the words using my photo editing.

Good morning!  Hope you're having a great week!  Mine has been good so far!  We're getting settled into the new place and my stamps and crafting supplies are happy to be out of their boxes and being put to use again.  Just in time for this weeks Oldie But Goodie challenge at Catch The Bug!  

I had so much fun working with the image I chose this week!  It's from Bugaboo Stamps Spring Bird set and it's a real cutie for sure!

I printed the image on watercolor paper and colored her using various Stampin Up stamp pads and a watercolor brush.  To give the flowers a little more punch I covered them with glossy accents!
