Tutorial-Making Faux Candles

Good morning!  It's Tutorial Wednesday over at Catch The Bug and it's my turn to share with you all!  I thought it would be fun to show you how I make my Faux Candles for birthday cards.

The cool thing about making faux candles is they're made from paper so you don't have to worry about wax melting all over your creations when you mail them and you can customize them to match your cards.

So let's get started!  I made a fun girls birthday card using Bugaboo Stamps Wee Ones-Cake Time.

Faux Candles

Supplies you'll need:

Various pieces of designer paper measuring 2 x 1.5 Inches
Embroidery floss or bakers twine
Adhesive
Glossy accents or glue tabs
Skewer or thin knitting needle

Start by rolling paper around the skewer so that the finished candle will be 2 inches long. Apply adhesive to the end and attach.

Remove from skewer and insert embroidery floss through the middle, leaving approximately ¼ inch out the top.

Apply a little drop of glossy accent to the inside top to hold thread in place. Trim excess thread from bottom.

Let adhesive dry and your finished.

Here's a card I made using the Faux candles, tied together with twine and attached with glue:

Images: Wee Ones Cake Time (Bugaboo Stamps), Jot It Down (The Cutting Cafe)
Papers: White. Bold Yellow Stripe (Recollections), Surf & Swim Lei and Dots (Trinity Papers), Hello Summer Little Flowers (Echo Park)

That's all there is to it!  Can't wait to see your birthday creations with faux candle embellishments!  Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Stamping Hugs,
Becky
