On the first day of Christmas my true love

Told me to do Jen's SFYTT and make a Christmas card to boot! Not really, but I thought that would be a fun way to start today's Christmas card post. What a great layout Jen came up with for this weeks challenge. I had a lot of fun with this one, but I think I got a little carried away. I'll let you be the judge of that.

I started with this really cute Joy Family image from American Arts and then just used Jen's layout and this is the end result.

See I told you! I got a little carried away but it sure is cute. I used my Copics (C1,E00,E47,E33,R35,R46,R59,YG63,G99,YR23) to color the image. I added crystal stickles and gold stickles to the ornaments. The paper is SU retired Caribbean and Marigold, Color Box red and black, Karen Foster DP and Daisy D DP. I added some chipboard accents and ribbon and the little dots on the corner are little punched circles. The ink I used is Brilliance Graphite and I heat embossed the circle sentiment with Black EP.

I have been feeling a little melancholy as we get closer to the Thanksgiving holiday. I have such fond memories of mom cooking and baking and the family getting together. Even when she suffered a stroke and had little use of her hands, she still did what she could to help out. I have the cutest picture of my son and her in the kitchen, peeling eggs for deviled eggs for our dinner last year. Wow! What a difference a year makes.

This year, we are going to be in the woods camping for the Thanksgiving Holiday. No turkey, no dressing, no pies. I'm hoping that in doing this, it will lessen the pain of my first major holiday without my mom. We'll see!

I hope you all are having a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs to you all!!!! TTFN
