Every year, about this time, the fans of SCS Dirty Dozen get the chance to do challenges and chat with some of the best talent in the stamping world. What amazingly wonderful fun! You have to be a member to play along, but I'm telling you, it's well worth it to join.
I've been playing along all week, but couldn't post til I found my charger and can you guess what I found last night? Yeah! It was in the last place I looked wouldn't you know. So here without further ado, are the cards that I have been creating. Some I'm happy with, other's not quite so enthused about. I still feel like I'm missing my mojo, but I'll just keep trying til I find it.
This first card is for the wonderfully talented and former fearless leader of SCS, Julie HHR (Julie Ebersole). Her challenge is to , "Embrace the white space".
If there is one thing that I struggle with, it is white space. I love lots of layers and bling and feel like my card is naked without it. So, I apologize for my cards nakedness but rules is rules.
See, I told you! White cards are just not my forte. I wanted to add more ribbon along the top but fought the urge. It was quite the struggle I'm telling you. All well, my mom will love it and she will be the recipient of this one. Red is her favorite color.
This next card is for Lauraly's (Laurie Schmidlin) Vellum challenge. She is one of my all time favorite stampers and I *love* everything she does. Her creations always have so much detail and beauty.
I love working with Vellum because it adds such softness and elegance to cards. Here is the card I came up with for her challenge.
I stamped the vellum with white pigment ink using my Ornate Floral backgrounder and then heat embossed it with white ep. I then added the scalloped border, using my corner punch. I really like the way this turned out.
This next card is for the wonderfully talented jbalcer's (Jenn Balcer) inspiration challenge. I got the opportunity to meet Jenn at this years Arlington get together and I have to tell you, she it just the nicest person you would ever want to meet.
Her inspiration piece was the most amazingly beautiful wedding cake and I wish I could post a pic of it here but that would be against the rules. Here is my take on the inspiration challenge.
What a wonderful inspiration piece. Isn't that cake gorgeous and oh so different? I love it!
I stamped the Ornate Floral background on white card stock using black pigment ink and then embossed a portion of it with clear ep and crystal effects and cut it into 1 1/2 inch squares. I then stamped the image on the portion that had not been embossed and cut it out and popped it up on dimentionals. The imitation pearls are made using black fabric paint. I added crystal stickles to the flowers on the cake to make them *POP*. This is my favorite of all the cards.
I know this is a long post and I hope I'm not overloading you but I have one more card. This card is for the super talented sf9erfan's (Michelle Woerner) masculine card challenge. Masculine cards are a challenge for me too so I made it a little easier on myself by using Jen's Sketch For You To Try. I am so please with how this turned out.
I recieved the Noble Deer image from my sweet SBS2 sister, Lori and just knew this would be perfect for a masculine card. I started by coloring the image with my Prismacolor Pencils and blending them with Gamsol. I then sponged the edges with brown ink and added it to a layer of card stock that I had distressed the edges of. The color inspiration came from the designer paper. I added the chunky brads and hemp to finish it off. I left off the sentiment so I can add it later when I decide what occasion I want to use it for. Maybe . a *Just Because I Love You Deer* for DH. *grin*
That's all for now! Like I said before, I hope I didn't overload you with all of these.
My brother's family left today to head for home. It's really quiet here but I'm sure I can handle it. I love my family, but it's nice to finally have things back to normal.
Hope everything is going well with all of you!
Have a wonderfully awesome Friday and thanks for stopping by! TTFN
