A little Valentine box with a twist.......

Good morning all! I hope that you had a great weekend. I have been fighting a sinus infection here and haven't felt much like stamping or blogging. I am feeling a little better today, hopefully the wind will stay away today and give me a break. I finally caved and took some meds for it yesterday. I tend to stay away from them because they make me so jittery, but I just couldn't handle the pressure headache. Guess what.....I was jittery and consequently couldn't sleep. When I can't sleep I stamp. So that's what I did and look what I came up with.

Isn't it cute? What is it do you say? My son named it a Dove Dispenser. It holds five Dove chocolates (my fave) but wait....there's more. Look what happens when you lift the lid!

The chocolates come out with the lid (hence the name Dove Dispenser). And just in time for V-day. I wish that the chocolates had been wrapped in pink foil but this is what I had on hand and I just had to go with it while I had the thought in my mind. Here is a rough sketch of the directions just in case you want to try one.

You start with a piece of card stock that is 5x 3 7/8 inches. Score in along the bottom at 1 1/8 inches. Now turn it and score at 1 1/8, 2 1/4, 3 3/8, 4 1/2 inches. Cut away shaded areas. I cut , stamped and added my side panels before gluing the box. Side panels are 7/8 x 2 1/4 inches. The top was made by punching a piece of card stock with my Giga Scallop Square (Marvy). I then scored all four sides at 7/8 inch. Cut out the areas shown in the picture. I then added a small scallop square that I cut from DP (K&I Company). I punched a slit in the center for the ribbon to go through and then glued the sides. The ribbon is 18 inches long and I inserted it in the bottom box, place the chocolates inside and laced it through the slot in the lid and then tied my bow. Pretty cool and easy, huh? I added the tag that I stamped using Terrific Tags II and my word window punch. The card stock I used here is Purely Pomegranate. The stamps used for the side panels are from Michael's $1 spot.
I am going to be making more of these to give out to friends and the people take care of my mom.

Have a great day and happy stamping!
