Ways to use it challenge

I am finally catching my breath after the whirlwind that was last week. I got to do the SCS challenge today and it came together surprisingly quick. The challenge was to use wax in any way shape or form. I chose wax resist, giving it a little twist. I stamped my image on glossy and then colored it in using markers. Here is the twist I was talking bout. I then use my white crayon and color over the whole image. I then used the polished stone technique, minus the metallic ink, all over the glossy CS. I really like the look of it. Then I just added some coordinating CS and raffia and tags in the corners and I was finished. Very quick and easy, but still very pretty!

Thoughts of You

It's after midnight and another sleepness night. I played around with my layout and I think I am finally happy with the results. I was still not sleepy yet, so I popped into SCS to see if Jen had posted the challenge. Bless her heart, she had. Good, something to do. The challenge was to pull out some of those sets that hadn't seen the light of day for a while. After looking through my stamps, I decided to use a set that I love for it's softness, but has been retired for a while. Sketches. I thought it would make the perfect card for Julia, who lost her mother to cancer last week.
I have been wanting to do something with polished stone and thought it would look really cool if it wrapped around the image. Hmmmmmm, think.........okay, so I stamped the image on glossy white, watercolored the image using my stamp pads , then colored the whole image with a white crayon. I then put rubbing alcohol and a few dots of banana and plum from the reinkers. Smooshed it on the image and let it dry and then wiped off the crayon. I had a few spots that didn't get covered with the crayon so I had break throughs but I think the overall results were nice.
The background paper is Mulberry paper that I got from my secret sister Pattyb. Thanks Patty it was perfect. I had this yummy, soft velvet ribbon that I added to the corner. Put it all together and this is what I got. I hope you enjoy!
