Sketch #86

Good morning everyone! It's sketch time! Are you ready for this week's sketch challenge?

I love it when Tamara gives a sketch with different dimentions. I kind of get in a rut doing the regular size cards and it's nice to stemp outside my box, ya know?

This week's card is 4 1/4 x 8 1/2. Here is the sketch:

I printed the background paper on my computer. I downloaded a free digi kit from Making-handmade-cards and this paper was included in the kit. Isn't it wonderful. All I had to do was sign up for their newsletter and this was a gift from them for signing up.

I'm still using up some of the scraps that I had laying on my desk so the yellow dp may look familiar.

The sentiment was made using my Cricut and George Cart, I just cut away the birthday part and matted it on white card stock and added some dotting and primas.

Riley Easter Box

Good morning! Aren't you glad it's Saturday? I love Saturdays, but I think I've told you that before.

This morning has been dedicated to organizing my stamp room. I have just been cramming things here and there as I aquired more and more stuff and have completely run out of places to put things.

Here is one of the reasons I needed to whip my stamp space into shape.

A couple of weekends ago, I won blog candy from Jeanne from Inky Paws, and it arrived earlier in the week and I had no place to put it. Wow! Would you look at all this amazing candy.

Guess what I had to do right in the middle of mission organization? If you said stamp then you would be right.

As soon as I had cleared my desk of all it's clutter, I sat down and created this cute little Easter box. I mean, I had to get that cute little Easter Riley inky, didn't I?

I used one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of summer sun to make this little box and filled it with a small cello bag of Reese's peanut butter cups.

The scallop border was made by gluing 3/4 inch punched circles to the back of the designer papers. Riley was stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black and colored with Copics. The oval was made with the Coluzzle.

I'm off to organize! Who knows, it might even spur more creativity!

I Moose You

Hiya my blogging friends. I thought I would take a break from V-day posts to show you the Riley card I made the other day with another one of the images that Sue (coffeestamper) sent me. I wanted it to be masculine so no ribbon and lots of brads.



I colored the image with my copic markers and then sponged Mustard around the fire to give it a glow. The photo corners were made by cutting a square in half and taping the cut end to a sticky note and inserting it in my Martha Stewart Border Punch making sure to line up the point with the middle mark on the punch. I blew the dust off my Fiskars Corrugator and used it for the piece of DP behind the image. The sentiment was printed off the computer and I just knew that is what Riley was thinking. LOL! I added brads and natural twine to give it that finishing touch. I'm really pleased with how this turned out cause I struggle with masculine cards.

That's all I have for you today. I have just one more day and then I am back to work and the kids are back to school. I feel like I am trying to come down with the yuck that has been going around. I sure hope not because I really need to get back to work. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Getting back into challenges.

Hello all my blogging friends! Sorry I have been absent for the last couple of weeks. I've just been having a hard time with the holidays, you know. We had a good Christmas, but it took every ounce of energy I had to get everything done and I didn't even put up all my decorations or do half of the stuff I usually do. I'm not the only one. My sister didn't even put up a tree this year. I guess it's a pretty normal response to losing someone you love so close to the Holidays. I really miss my mom:(. She spent the last three Christmases with us. I had no idea that last Christmas would be our last one together. I mean, I knew it was possible, but I just didn't believe it would be, you know? Anyway, that's why I've been absent.

The last couple of days, I've been making a point to set aside some stamping time and yesterday I was blessed with some new images to color. I recieved a beautiful Christmas card filled with stamped images from my SCS friend coffeestamper aka Sue. I had the fun opportunity of being her Christmas elf last year and she returned the favor this year. Thanks for the images,Sue! Here is a picture of all of them.

Wow! She really spoiled me. I was so excited to have some Riley images to play with. I wanted to do Jen Del Muro's sketch for you to try, so I chose the image of Riley in the chair and away I went. I colored him using my Copic markers and then, using my light table and a post it note, traced around his image so I could mask him off to stamp the trees from Loads Of Love. I used my Martha Stewart punch for the border top and bottom and added the sentiment. I just love how this turned out.

I have a bunch of RAK's to share with you all and some awards but it's late and I don't want to bombard you with a huge post after not posting in awhile.
